Boren Scholarship Alternate 2014
Critical Language Scholar to Jordan 2016

BA Political Science with minors in Spanish, Arabic, and International Area Studies '15, Honors

Ann Marie Hager is a Drexel alumna and master’s degree candidate in the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program at Columbia University. Currently, she is a research assistant at the Advanced Consortium for Cooperation, Conflict, and Complexity at Columbia.

Ann Marie traveled to Jordan in the summer of 2013 to study intensive Arabic and Conflict Resolution. She has since published independent research on Jordan as a negative case of large-scale violence in the Middle East, and would like to build on this work as she is passionate about both the Middle East and violence prevention.

If awarded a Boren Scholarship, Ann Marie would continue to study diplomacy and Conflict Resolution in Jordan while volunteering and teaching English, as she has experience as a tutor as a Peer Reader at the Drexel University Writing Center. As a Critical Language Scholarship recipient, she will be studying intensive Arabic in Madaba, Jordan.

After graduating, Ann Marie would like to pursue a career as a Foreign Service Officer on the Public Diplomacy track.
